Managing the limited investments optimally within the transport sector in Uva Province to establish and maintain an efficient, effective, and reliable transport service to fulfill the economic, social, and cultural needs of the people of Uva Province.
The Uva Province Road Passenger Transport Authority, established under the Uva Provincial Road Passenger Transport Services Statute No. 1 of 2001, plays a leading role in public passenger transport services within the province. Operating under the Uva Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs, Tourism, Transport, Cultural, Textile and Small Industries, the Authority engages in various activities aimed at establishing an efficient, safe, qualitative, and cost-effective passenger transport service in the province. To this end, the Authority provides daily transport facilities to passengers through buses operating along routes spread across the province, centered around bus stands established within Uva Province.
In addition to providing and regulating passenger transport services, the Uva Province Road Passenger Transport Authority maintains an affiliated driver training school with the objective of producing well-trained, disciplined drivers. This school provides training not only for private bus drivers but also for a large number of individuals seeking to obtain private driver's licenses with the hope of becoming self-employed.
